OUR HISTORY

Mabel, or "Mabs" to her friends, was born in 1908 to Swedish parents. After moving to Detroit from Canada and marrying a handsome young Swede, she began her life as a wife, mother, and tradition setter. Spending time with her family meant eating well, and she always sent her guests with a parting gift. One item, in particular, garnered quite a following...

Her mother Mathilda's hot mustard was a staple in her refrigerator as well, especially during the holidays. Some slathered, some merely dabbed the tangy, brown elixir on their traditional potato sausage and meatballs during Christmas Eve dinner. After her son Ron jokingly referred to it as "atomic", the name stuck. Many asked for the recipe, but Mabel loved giving and said she'd rather "just make more" and look forward to another visit. With blessings from her family, granddaughter Andrea Simard is mixing up kettles full of mustard to share with everyone who loves a bite of eye opening goodness.
